Belle2 DIRAC Site Director (SD) configuration

The DIRAC software is located the following directories (bellecs.heprc.uvic.ca)

Frank's documentation on the UVIC SD configuration is found at https://wiki.heprc.uvic.ca/twiki/bin/view/HEPrc/BelleDIRACServer

How to modify the UVIC SD parameters on DIRAC web portal.

  • Change group to dirac_admin.
  • One should consider a "Redownload configuration from server" (left menu bar) before changing any parameters
  • To edit a parameter, click the box and a window on the right will appear. Change the parameter and press SUBMIT.
  • The changes need to be committed by clicking "Commit configuration" in the left menu bar.
  • The UVIC SD must be restarted (see below).

From the web portal top menu bar:

From the central page, there are two places where parameters can be modified:

From the DIRAC icon, go to Applications--ConfigurationManager
Then go to Systems---WorkloadManagement---Production---Agents---SiteDirectorUVic
(Note that there are three UVIC SDs)

The key parameters to consider:
MaxJobsInFillMode : Number of user payload executed by single pilot
MaxPilotsToSubmit (3) : Number of pilots SD submits to CE
FailedQueueCycleFactor : Number of "penalty waiting" when SD failed to submit pilot to CE

To modify the SD configuration

The key parameters to consider:
MaxTotalJobs (3000) : # of running jobs + waiting jobs
MaxWaitingJobs (200): SD stops job submission when waiting jobs exceed the number

Commit the changes (wait a couple of minutes as the configuration needs time to propergate) Then restart SD from web portal:

From the DIRAC icon, go to Applications--SystemAdministration
Wait for window with sites to appear and go to bellecs.heprc.uvic.ca
right click on SiteDirectorUVic --- Restart
