Find VM's with defunct processes (java)

Hourly reporting of VM's with defunct process in /var/log/vm_defunct.log with entry ("defunct": "1").

List all VM's with a defunct process

cat /var/log/vm_defunct.log | awk '{OFS=",";print $22}' | sed 's/"//g' | sed 's/,//g'

Examples:

grep '"defunct": "1"' /var/log/vm_defunct.log | grep atlas-mcore-worker | awk '{OFS=",";print $22}' | sed 's/"//g' | sed 's/,//g'
grep '"defunct": "1"' /var/log/vm_defunct.log | grep atlas-worker | awk '{OFS=",";print $22}' | sed 's/"//g' | sed 's/,//g'
grep '"defunct": "2"' /var/log/vm_defunct.log | grep atlas-worker | awk '{OFS=",";print $22}' | sed 's/"//g' | sed 's/,//g'

Script to help clean up (on condor.heprc) which creates a vmCommand.txt file with recommended commands

cd ~rsobie/defunct
source find_defuncts.sh

VM's with 2 or more defunct processes need to be corrected manually
